St. John Neumann Catholic High School develops Christian leaders. That is our mission and we are committed to living it out every day.
Being the very best you can be means more than just Mass, prayer, or retreats. It encompasses making sound judgments, treating others as you want to be treated, and respecting each other and yourself as unique individuals with unlimited potential.
Being the very best you can be means being the best in all areas of your life: mentally, physically, socially, and, yes, even morally. Your choices all day long will have both immediate and long-lasting effects on who you are and who you become.
Faith formation opportunities at Neumann will provide you with opportunities to develop your social and moral self.
You learn to speak by speaking, to study by studying, to run by running, to work by working, and just so, you learn to love by loving.
All those who think to learn in any other way deceive themselves.
— St. Francis de Sales
The primary facilitator of this message is the school’s Campus Ministry team comprised of students, a chaplain, and coordinators.
Campus Ministry’s goal is to involve all members of the school community in spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ in numerous ways.
Campus Ministry will empower you so that you might share the work of the Church, make a difference, and implement ideas in your communities in order to diminish the zone of indifference prevalent in many parts of society.
You will engage in variety of meaningful Christian Service experiences throughout your years at Neumann. You will learn about yourself, the needs of the environment around you, and your abilities to become active agents of change in your world.
While appreciative of the various faith traditions in our school community, you will recognize a fundamental mission of Christianity is a goal common of all virtuous people throughout the world: love of God and love of neighbor. Making a difference in other people’s lives is as rewarding an experience as you can have.
Many local groups and organizations benefit from St. John Neumann Catholic High School’s belief in Christian service. You may end up volunteering at nursing homes, coach and facilitate at Special Olympics, tutor at elementary schools, or serve as youth coaches or leaders.
Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary use words.” St. Francis of Assisi
The Gospel message is what Jesus said, what Jesus did, and what He told us to do.
It includes honesty, compassion, forgiveness, mercy, community, servant leadership, equality, simplicity, justice, a respect for life and the dignity of each person, a trust in God, and peace.
All students are encouraged to live the Gospel message by demonstrating a respect the for the facilities, each other, and most important, themselves.
You will participate in retreat experiences while at St. John Neumann Catholic High School.
The retreat program is a four-year program designed to be an integral part of your growth and development during your high school years.
The retreat themes are connected to the Theology curriculum. Therefore, the topics you explore in the classroom become the basis for discussion and activities during your retreats making it come alive and be “more real.”
You will be blessed with many opportunities for prayer.
You will begin each day with prayer either in the courtyard with the entire student body or in homeroom. Prayer is also used as you begin each of your classes and to conclude your day.
Once each week, your Theology class will visit the Our Lady of the Angels Chapel to give you an opportunity to deepen your relationship with God. An entire class period is utilized in order to give you the ability to grow an appreciation for prayer, silence, and reflection.
