Faculty Information

Mrs. McLaughlin is an Army brat. As a child, she moved almost every two years and realized home was where her clothes are hanging in the closet. She attended three different high schools from Korea to South Carolina to North Carolina where she earned her high school diploma. She attended Appalachian State University but graduated from Mount Saint Mary College with a bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology.

After graduating from college, she began teaching high school Geometry at the New York Military Academy (NYMA), a private, military boarding school in New York. While teaching, she earned her master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Counseling and Child Development from Long Island University, and used her degree to become the Director of Guidance. She eventually decided to leave the field of education and became the Director of Human Resources for a New York City company, where she remained until shortly after 9/11.

Due to transfers for her husband’s career, her family moved from New York to Maryland, to Colorado before finally settling in Florida. She continued to work while living in different states but decided to return to the field of education when she moved to Florida. After dedicating much of her time to volunteering at Saint Elizabeth Seton school, where her two daughters attend, she decided to join the workforce again and in 2008 became a part of the Saint John Neumann community.
